1. What Parallax Data is

Parallax Data (“Parallax,” “we,” “us”) operates a platform that connects Buyers who need real-world, egocentric and handheld visual data with Collectors who film or capture it, verified and coordinated by our curators. A Topic is a curator-posted call for footage carrying a budget; a Source is what a Collector submits against it. These Terms govern everyone’s use of the platform: Collectors, Buyers, and visitors alike.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You need an account to use Parallax; there is no anonymous or guest access. You must provide accurate registration information, keep your credentials confidential, and are responsible for activity under your account. You must be old enough in your jurisdiction to enter a binding agreement. We may suspend an account for a violation of these Terms; suspension blocks sign-in and contribution until we lift it.

3. Collecting and submitting Sources

A Source you submit must be authentic: footage you actually captured, at the place and time you claim, in response to an open Topic. Submitting footage that is staged as if genuine, taken from someone else’s work, or misrepresented in its location or time is a violation of these Terms and may result in suspension and forfeiture of any earnings tied to it.

Where a Topic asks for egocentric capture, we or a Logistician may arrange delivery and retrieval of hardware to you. Hardware remains Parallax property; you agree to use it only for the Topic it was issued for, to take reasonable care of it, and to return it on request.

4. Verification and earnings

A curator verifies each Source against the Topic’s stated bar. Verifying a Source means we consider it authentic and on the bar, and it books a payout as owed against that Topic’s budget while the budget lasts. Owed is not paid: an earning is settled off-platform on our schedule, and remains marked owed until we do. A Source that is genuine but arrives after a Topic’s budget is already spoken for is unfunded, not rejected, and earns nothing. We may reject a Source that fails verification, with a reason.

5. License to your Sources

By submitting a Source, you grant Parallax and the Buyer assigned to that Topic a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, and create derivative works from it for the purpose the Topic described, including training and evaluating machine learning models. You retain ownership of your Sources; this license does not transfer it.

6. Buyers

A Buyer account reads only the Topics assigned to it and their verified Sources; a Buyer is never shown a Collector’s identity or how much a Source paid out. A Buyer may not redistribute Source data outside the purpose the Topic described, or attempt to re-identify a Collector from delivered footage.

7. Payments and tokens

Access to post Topics runs on a flat contract. A contract gives you a set number of tokens. Each token lets you create and post one Topic. When your tokens run out, you can buy more: through a new contract, or pay-as-you-go, one token at a time.

A Topic’s budget is separate from tokens. A budget is the most a Topic can pay out to Collectors. A payout owed against it is settled off-platform, on the schedule and by the method we communicate to you separately. We are not a bank or payment processor, and nothing here is a promise of a specific settlement date beyond what we separately agree with you.

8. Prohibited conduct

Beyond fabricating or misrepresenting footage (Section 3), you agree not to: access the platform through automation without our permission; attempt to bypass the confirm-to-contribute or verification gates; harass another user; upload footage that violates a third party’s rights or privacy in a way you had no reasonable basis to capture; or use the platform for anything unlawful.

9. Termination

You may stop using Parallax at any time. In early access, closing an account is a manual request to a curator rather than a self-service action. We may suspend or terminate an account for a material breach of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (license grants already made, liability limits, earnings already owed) do.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The platform is provided “as is,” during an early access period, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent the law allows, Parallax is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

11. Privacy and cookies

We store the account information you give us (username, email, role) and the Sources you submit. We do not sell personal data. On your first visit, a banner asks whether we may record a city-level visit statistic: which city and country a request came from, nothing more precise, and nothing tied to your account or IP address in storage. Accepting is optional; declining only turns that one statistic off; every other part of the platform works the same either way. Your choice is remembered on this device using local browser storage, which is itself necessary for the platform to function and is not something this banner asks permission for.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the platform changes. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do; continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
